OUR WET WICKETS,
AUSTRALIAN CONTROVERSY.
(Received 12.30 p.m.) MELBOURNE, this day. Melbourne cricket .opinion differs on a suggestion by Mr. C. Dolling, a former Australian Test selector, that Australia should send more teams to New Zealand to obtain wet-wicket practice. It is admitted that there is much in favour of the suggestion, but difficulties are claimed in that Sheffield Shield and Test match programmes are a bar to frequent visits to New Zealand by a high-class team. Mr. W. J. Johnson, an Australian Test selector, said to-day that he doubted whether the suggestion would help very much. "The more you play on wet wickets, the worse you play on good wickets," he said. "You must take the bad wickets with the good."
