H.M.S. LEITH AT SUVA.

DANCES AND GAMES

(From Our Own Correspondent.)

SUVA, July 3.

Suva will greatly regret the- departure of E.M.S. Leith to-inorrow, when she sails for other ports in the colony. The lads in navy blue have won the good will of the citizens. They play a great game at Soccer, and easily defeated Fiji's only exponents of the game—the Indian Football Association. There have been several dances, and the ship's company repaid hospitality with one in the Town Hall on Monday. Great interest was evinced in the rifle matches. The ship sent some good marksmen to a gathering at the miniature rifle range, where the ladies reign supreme. Here the Leith men met defeat, the ladies scoring 528 against the ships 486, for teams of six. A draw sweepstake was then shot off, when Mr. J. Turner won with a score, including his handicap of three, of 100. Several scores of 09 and 9S were recorded. The prize was drawn by Captain Bevir, of the Leith, who handed the stake back to be shot for ae a trophy members of the club. His Excellency the acting-Governor was present.
