"THE BIG FIVE."
INCREASED TURNOVER. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, July 6. Four oufc of the five great banks, generally known as "the big five," have issued their balance-sheets in the last few daye. The dividends declared are at the same rate ae at the corresponding period of laet year. The statements show that deposits have been steadily rising and the turnover has been larger, especially in recent weeks. The figures of the London Bankers' Clearing House to date show an increase of £669,044,000, or 3.6 per cent over the same period of last year. The dividends of the chief discount houses also are at the same rate as last year.
