Mr. E. W. Alison left for Wellington by the Limited last night. Mr. George Manden left for the south by the Limited last night. Mr. W. H. Gummer was a passenger for the south by the Limited last night. Dr. and Mrs." M. G. Pezaro leave by the Aorangi to-night on a short visit to Sydney. The Hen. T. F. O'Byrne, M.L.C., of Invercargill, Arrived from the south by train yesterday morning. Mr. 11. P. Norman, passenger manager of the Union Steamship Company, is in Auckland on business. Mr. T. N. Small wood, joint managing director of the Mortgage Corporation, left for Wellington by the Limited last night. Dr. E. Marsden, Secretary of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, arrived in Auckland by train this morning. Mr. R. L. Gillies, superintending engineer of the Union Steam Ship Company, returned by the Aorangi yesterday from a business visit to Great Britain. Major Bear, of Dunedin, who has been in command of the Salvation Army Corps throughout Otago and Southland, has been transferred to Auckland. The Rev. H. T. Peat, of St. Paul , ? Methodist Church, Hamilton, has accepted a call to act as superintendent minister of the Lower Hutt Methodist Church. Captain V. G. Webb, marine superintendent of the Union Steam Ship Company, arrived from Wellington by train yesterday morning and is at Hotel Cargen. Mr. and Mrs. T. B. Clay, of Mount Albert, leave by the Aorangi to-night for Sydney, on their way to China and Japan. They expect to be away about six months. Canon C. V. Pilcher, D.D., Professor of Old Testament Literature at Wycliffe College and Canon of St. Alban's Cathedral, Toronto, is aboard the Aorangi, on hits way to AustraliaMr. Justice Northcroft has relinquished .the appointment of Judge-Advocate-General to the New Zealand Military Forces, and will be succeeded by Colonel* C. H. Weston." Messrs. Raymond Sheath, Jas. Pascoe and P. IJosking leaivg by the Limited, to-night to attend tlie annual meeting of the New Zealand Bowling Association in Christchurch. Mr. Justice Johnston, president of the Court of Review set up under the Rural Mortgages Final Adjustment Act, is expected to arrive in Auckland from the South on Thursday. Mr. T. J. W. Buxton, president of the Auckland Trotting Club, left by the Limited last night to attend the annual meeting of the New Zealand Trotting Conference in Wellington. Mr. Wyvern Wilson, S.M., Mr. W. A. Bishop and Mr. W. R. T. Leighton have been appointed members of the Aseessment Court for the town district of Henderson under the Urban Farm Land Rating Act. Mr. H. E. Brusey, of the Wellington office of the Union Steam Ship Company, has been appointed cruise director aboard the Monowai, which sails from Auckland to-morrow evening on a visit to Pacific islands. He is at the Grand Hotel. . . Mr. W. J. Holdsworth, chairman of the Auckland Electric Power Board, was admitted to the Auckland Hospital yesterday to undergo an abdominal operation, which was performed this morning. His condition was reported this afternoon to be satisfactory. Mr. Walter W. Hoffmann, assistant Consul for U.S.A. at Wellington, and Mrs. Hoffmann, will leave by the Mariposa from Auckland on July 27 for the States, on their way to Tegucigalpa, capital of Honduras, where Mr. Hoffmann has been appointed American vice-Consul and third secretary of the Legation.
