SAAR-FRENCH BORDER.
SPLITS VILLAGE CHURCH.
METZ (France), May 31
The return of the Saar to Germany was hailed as a triumph for peace, but it has only brought a headache to the people of Leyding. Their parish church lies now half in France, half in the German Saar mining region. The pastor receives his pay on the French side, from the Government, but he is a German and speaks only German at services, baptisms, weddings and funerals. Parishioners asked the Government to-day to provide in the next Budget for an All-French church and priest.
