FAT EWES IMPROVE.

PRICES AT FEILDING. BREEDING EWES WANTED. There was a good sale for all sheep at Feilding yesterday, except fat lambs, which wjgnt back a little in price. Cattle, on the other hand, were neglected, although dairy stock improved. Values were as follow: — Store Sheep.—Breeding ewe vendors again enjoyed a good sale, all lines of young and well-mouthed ewes in lamb meeting with brisk competition at advanced prices. i'ailing-mouthed sorts were not keenly sought after, and for lambs, which were mainly in poor coudi; tion, the inquiry was slow. Exceptional quality five-year ewes in lamb to Southdown rams, 27/4; good lambs, 21/G to 23/2; good woolled four and five-year lambs, 25/; poorer sorts, 18/6 to 20/7, very good four-year lambs, 28/9; largeframed two-tooth lambs, 30/; smaller, 20/1; others, 22/0; best sound-mouthed ewes, 19/ to 21/9; six-tooth to four-year ewes, 19/6 to 22/0; well-grown ewe lambs, 18/3; small, 15/; good wether lambs, 14/ to 14/10; for\Vard black-faced lambs, 15/4. Fat Cattle. —Schedule rates prevailed in the fat pens, where only cow beef and a few heifers were on sale. Good heavy dairy breeds sold well. Heavy Shorthorn cows, £5 12/0; medium dairy Hereford cows, £4 17/0 to £5 3/; lighter, £3 19/'; best Jersey cows, £5 2/6; smaller, £4 to £4 10/; light, £2 10/ to £3 5/; light prime heifers, £4 12/6; unfinished, £2 17/6 to £3 7/6; vealers, £1 15/. Store Cattle. —A small yarding and a dull inquiry. Mostly odd farmers' lines were sold, station cattle being scarce. Three-year P.A. steers, £4 10/; 18-montlis Jersey steers, £1 12/6; small yearling Jersey heifers, £1 8/; yearling weaner heifers, 18/; two-year empty heifers, £1 2/: potter cows, best weights £1 10/ to £1 10/, others 15/ to £1 5/. Fat Sheep.—Export buyers continued to operate freely and lambs sold well. Prime sorts advanced a little, the average price over the whole yarding also being a shade firmer. Mutton prices held firm, wethers showing a rise where good quality was offered. Extra prime fat lambs, 24/3; prime, 20/8 to 21/6; good lines, 19/ to 19/6; others, 15/11 to 18/7; prime finished wethers, 25/1; others, 21/6; prime heavy ewes, 21/3; good weights, 18/7 to 19/6; medium, 15/6 to 16/6; others, 13/9 to 14/3. Dairy Cattle.—Dairy farmers had the choice of some very select springing heifers, an improved demand being shown for heifers near profit. Cows made late rates. Select springing Jersey heifers, £7; good, £5 to £6: others, £3 to £4 10/; springing cows, £2 5/ to £3 5/; best cows in milk, £5 to £5 10/; others, £1 15/ to £2 10/; heifers in milk, £2 5/.

Pigs.—A very small entry of pigs at the mart solcl on a dull market. Good veaners made to 17/6; others, from 9/; best slips. £1 1/; small, 16/6; good stores, £1 5/6; lighter sorts, £1.-
