SHE SPLIT HIS LIP.
LUPE AND HER "TARZAN."
When Lupe Velez, the excitable Mexican film star, left Hollywood for Pittsburgh last May, it cost lier husband, Johnny ("Tarzan") "Weissmuller, £9G and a split lip, while a transcontinental aeroplane was kept waiting for 22 minutes. Arriving at the airport, Lupe affectionately said "Good-bye, Johnny," kissed him and then ran towards the plane. Then she discovered that her tickets were missing, and in a Spanish accent shouted "Johnny, my tickets; he is robbed!" The ticket agent and the police ran up, and Lupe said she needed some more tickets. The agent gave them to her and asked for the £90, whereupon Lupe became excited and shouting "Pig, I am insult!" aimed her fist at the agent. He ducked and the blow struck Johnny. This seemed to annoy Miss Velez, who abandoned fists in favour of feet and began kicking vigorously at the shins of the agent and two policemen. Johnny meanwhile had produced the necessary money and Lupe, somewhat pacified, consented to climb into the waiting plane.
