RUGGER.

END OF FIRST ROUND.

GEAMMAR TACKLES OTAHUHtT THREE XV.'S TO BE RELEGATED. The programme of major matches arranged by the Auckland Rugby Football Union for to-morrow is:— Grammar Schools' Old Boys v. Otahuhu, Eden Park No. 1, 3 p.m. Manukau v. Ponsonby/ Eden Park No 2, 3 p.m. 'Varsity v. College Rifles, Eden Park No. 3, 3 p.m. Marist v. Technical Old Boys, Showgrounds, 3 p.m. Graftoii has drawn the bye, and the black and whites are visiting Rotorua. The curtain-raiser -at headquarters is a secondary schools' senior match between Auckland and Mount Albert Grammar Schools. The hitter defeated the 1934 champions in the first round, and the Aucklanders are bound to fight hard tomorrow to even the account. These two fifteens were bracketed champions in 1032, but the last occasion on which Mount Albert won outright was in 1925. Saturday's senior games are of more than usual interest, for, apart from Grammar's chances .of coming out all square with Otahnhii-at the end of the first round, three teams are to be relegated to the senior B division. There is at least one club which will take the "warpath" if relegated, bpcauso of what it considers the unauthorised action of the A.R.F.U. executive in reinstating Grammar Schools' Old Boys to full senior status after this season's competition had actually started. As a special meeting of delegates has been called for next Thursday night more is likely \to be heard on the subject of relegation. In this connection it is interesting to note that Technical Old Boys have had less points scored against them than any other side this winter. Positions of the teams: — Pts; Ch. -■<• V. W. L. D. For. He urged that a committee of sub-union representatives be sought to bring about an improvement in the rules governing the trophy. It was decided that the matter he deferred for further consideration to next week's meeting. Meantime the draw has been. ■ announced.
