NEW ZEALAND BUTTER IN SCOTLAND.
Please permit me space to answer the Rev. J. H. M. Dabb's letter in regard to the difficulty in getting people in Scotland to take New Zealand butter. As a Scotsman still, and once occupying a general store in Scotland, I could not sell New Zealand butter, simply because it was 3d per lb dearer to buy wholesale than was Danish. The reason for this according to the wholesaler was it had to come from Smithfiekl through agents galore, who all had to get a profit from it, even if they never saw it. If New Zealand could deliver this produce on the Clyde for Glasgow and at Leith for Fifeshire at the same price as they dumped it at Smithfiekl, believe me, there would be none to go into cold storage to waste. SCOTLAND FOR EVER.
