DAIRY INDUSTRY.
BAY OF PLENTY INTERESTS. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WHAKATANE, Sunday. The annual meeting of the East Coast Dairy Associtaion was held at Whakatane on Saturday. Mr. J. W. Sumuer (Rangitaiki Plains) and Mr. J. A. Mitchell (Waimana) were re-elected to the executive, and Mr. W. E. Singleton (Te Puke) was elected in place in Mr. C. L. Luke, who resigned. Mr. Mi Hamill wad reappointed- auditor.
A remit from Tauranga was carried
recommending that steps be taken with* a view to having the regulations govern- , ing local supply altered to permit of the sale of cream (after pasteurisation) direct from dairy to customers. Mr. Sinclair (Opotiki) moved that the Dairy Board be asked to visit different parts of the Dominion and take evidence concerning inter-company competition and overlapping of dairy supplies. This was carried. It was also decided to ask the board to remove the present restrictions governing f.o.b. sales and the appointment of exporting agents by the companies interested. .
The meeting also carried a remit that companies should not be called on to arrange finance re the Government proposals for the assistance of farmers, as it was entirely a matter for the Governin en t.
