STRIKING INCREASE.
NEW ZEALAND TOTAL 134,451 REGISTRATIONS RENEWED. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star."') WELLINGTON, this day. A remarkable development in the use of motors is disclosed in the completed figures, registrations renewed to the end of May showing a total of 134,451, which is an increase of 17,197, equalling 14.07 per cent. Private cars show the greatest rise, over 13,000. There are also significant increases of 1410 in light trucks and lOlil heavy trucks, while- additional facilities for passenger traffic in the backbloeks are provided by 583 trucks which are licensed to carry passengers, showing an increase of 180. Greater vitality in the motor selling business is shown by the fact that dealers' cars increased by one-third to a total of 915. Local body vehicles total 1115, an increase of 100, though Government vehicles show less expansion, a total of 13S0 and an increase of 81.
A growing feature of motoring is the rental car system, these registrations being 225, compared with 148 twelve months previously. Motor cycles (0000) show an increase of 43(5.
