TO-DAY IN CHRISTCHURCH. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") CHRISTCHURCH, this day. The markets were again active at this morning's call, with values generally tending upwards. There were buyers in most j positions for Government stocks and j bonds at steady to firmer rates, but the i jnly seller offering was for 1946 stock. Values among banks were erratic, Union )f Australia dropping on buyers' and iellers , quotations, and New Zealand, ex lividend, being firm, 2d on either side of £2 10/. New South Wales recovered ;o business and sellers at £31. Breweries •vere more active, but New Zealand shares ionfirmed recent easing, with transactions it 1/1 less than the rate of last business, footh's rose another 3d. the market ilosing from £2 12/4 to £2 12/6. Miscelaneous issues were mainly firm, Iron and Steel preference gaining steadily to £1 2/9, ifter which the market stood buyers £1 !/8, sellers £1 3/. Waihls were again liioted at low rates, the market standing rom £1 16/ to £1 17/6. Mount Lyell had rasiness at yesterday's rate, but Bia was again lower, with dealings and urther sellers at 2/2. .
