MEAT WRANGLE HIT GO TO ARBITRATION.

EXPORT QUANTITIES.

Australia and N.Z. Cannot Reach Agreement.

BATTLE OF PERCENTAGES. (United P.A.—Electric Telegraph—Copyright) (Received 11 a.m.) LONDON, June 3. Mr. Walter Elliot, British Minister of Agriculture, presided at a further meeting to discuss the respective Australian and New Zealand percentages of mutton and lamb exports to Britain. Sir Henry Gullett, for Australia, and Mr. J. G. Coates, with "their respective experts, were present. No decision was reached. Tho Australian Press Association learns that in consequence of the failure of the Australian and Xcw Zealand experts to reach agreement, it" was arranged that if disagreement continues the figures should be referred for decision to an arbitrator or.arbitrators acceptable to Britain, Australia and New Zealand. In the event of disagreement over the award the British Government itself should decide the issue.

The Australian Press Association also understands that the New Zealanders a«o most disappointed that a quick decision has not been obtained, as they feel they have made every concession in adopting the Ottawa year, 1932, while Australia is unyielding in her demand to' continue her swollen exports of 1934.
