THE RACE FOR BABIES.

NAZIS JUBILANT. CONTRAST WITH FRANCE. BERLIN, April 24. Nazi Germany is heeding Reichsfuehrer Hitler's call for more babies as the latest statistics reveal. -In the last six months of 1934 the surplus of births over deaths in Germany amounted to C.2 per thousand inhabitants, as against 2.9 in the first half year of 1933. With pride the Nazi papers point out that the corresponding figures in France amount to only 0.1 and 0.4: In the year 1934 the number of births in German cities with more than 100 000 inhabitants amounted to 284,775 as Against 203,787 in 1933 and 206,95S in 1932?

To increase the zest of German parents to found large families Reichsfuehrer . I Hitler has made it a habit to become ■ n-odfather to the newly borne of large , families. Thus Hitler recently consented to become godfather to the ', thirty-second child of A. Langer, a tailor residing at Ratibor, in Silesia. . The tailor was married three times. Of his host' of children 29 are still hving. The honour of having the three most ! prominent godfathers goes to the three , i youngest sons of Adam Wagner of jPirmascns. The godfathers are the late President von Hindenburg, Reichs, fuehrer Hitler,, and General Goering. Wagner ; has 10 children, all of whom are tjjboys.
