EIGHTEEN POINTS TO SIXTEEN KEEN PLAY AT EDEN PARK. HOW TRIES WERE SCORED. Thousands packed Eden Park's stands and terraces to watch the All Black Rug-by trial match yesterday afternoon. It was an ideal day for Rugby. The selection committee, Messrs. E. McKenzie, chairman (Wairarapa), Mr. V. R. S. Meredith (Auckland), Mr. A. A. Adams (West Coast), and Mr. W. Pearson (Otago), watched the game from seats on the side line. The teams were: — Auckland-North Auckland. Full-back: R. G. Bush (University). Three-quarters: R. White (North Auckland), T. H. C. The North backs were frequently opening out, and from one cross-field movement Caughey, realising the attack was about to fail, punted high. The South full-back, MeLeod, failed to reach the ball in time, and in the ensuing scramble D. Just on half-time came the first real thrill of the match. A scrum went down at half-way on the terrace side of tie field. Corner flashed round the blind side and eent to Brown, who, with a dazzling burst down the touch! ine, gained 25 yards before he paesed infield to McLean. When the forward was about to be tackled he passed out again to Brown, who was brought down after he had attempted to send-the ball back to- his forwards. The Northern backs were going into action time and time again, and trom one movement White sent an infieid pass to D. Solomon, who was tackled before he could unload. Hedge racing up fast, kicked the rolling ball and dived on it as it crossed the line. He sent a beautiful centring kick, which Carlson took on the full brilliantly to score. The kick failed.
