SOCIAL GATHERINGS.

The first of a series of social and dance evenings was held by the members' of the Christ Church choir, Papakura, in the Parish Hall. Musical items were given by Misses Rona Spinley and Gloria Jackson. I?ance music was played by Miss Ailsa Cartwright. Amongst those present were: Mesdames E. Lever, J. Eenvvick, V. Hardwick, 11. Baulf, W. Elliott, J. Gibson, Beams, Misses L. Rollen, K. Gibson, Clark (2), G. Jackson, A. Cartwright, J. Byers, N. Forrest, J. Naylor, M. Walker, and R. Spinley.

There was a very large crowd at the Otamarakau Hall recently, when people met for the first time in that hall, since-the electric service had been put in. During the first part of the evening the room was. lit with lanterns. The Monte Carlo waltz was won by Mrs. Warbeck and Mr. M. Lee, while rte statue waltz was won by Mies P. O'Driscoll and partner. The hall was tastefully decorated with gold and black streamers and palms, while the siai v e was decorated, with ferns and coloured lights. A mouth organ solo which was given was very much appreciated.. Mr. Freddy Burt's orchestra supplied the music for the dancing. 'Mr. Knox a:>d Mr. R. Morteneen acted as masters cf ceremonies. .
