SPORTS AND TOURNAMENT. Record Entries —Keen Contests. The Remuera recreation reserve presented a colourful scene this morning, when the annual King's Birthday tournament of field sports and seven-a-side games under the auspices of the Auckland Men's and Auckland Ladies' Hockey Associations commenced. The entries constitute a record, and judging by the keen competition in the junior events that were decided in the morning some splendid sport is in store for the afternoon patrons. In the men's section there are three trophies to be decided, the Trevor Davis Cup for the club gaining the most points in the field games and tournament matches, with the Howard Cup for the runners-up. The Cremorne Cup and miniature, presented by Mr. L. H. Norton, goes to the winner of the 100 yards championship. The schoolboys were keen to secure one of the 20 lucky sticks donated by the Hei'bert Smith Trust, of Hamilton, for competition in the sports and tournament game. . The ladies' trophies are allocated for the three grades; in the seniors the winners receive the Doris Cup, and the Cowan Cup to the runners-up. The intermediate grade receives the Knock-out Championship Cup, and the juniors the Kent Cup. The tournament games of seven-a-eido are played for a quarter of an hour, and in the event of scores being even then, the team with the greatest number of corner hits to its credit is declared the winner. Two points count for a penalty corner, and one point for a corner hit. The nrogramme arrangements, under the control" of Mi.-s A. Twiname and Mr. G. Pea-ee. the secretaries of the respective associations, are most complete and account for the 6mooth running of the tournament. School Boys' Games. SENIORS.
