TRAVELLERS BY TRAIN.
EXCURSION TO HAMILTON. Special trains throughout the Auckland Province carried bigger holiday crowds to-day than they have done on any King's Birthday for several years past. Trains which arrived at Auckland over the week-end also brought extraordinarily large numbers of country visitors to Auckland, and bookings by return trains to-night are correspondingly heavy. Leaving Auckland for Hamilton at 8.15 a.m. to-day, a special train carried over 1000 passengers. Two additional carriage had to be attached at PapaIcura and a third at Mercer, making a train of 21 carriages. A special train of nine carriages, all full, arrived from Hikurangi at 11.21, and one of 13 carriages from Frankton at 1.40 p.m.
