VOITRE VICTORIOUS.
FOUR FLEMINGTON WINS. EQUALS McCARTEN'S RECORD. MYSTIC PEAK AND BOY BLUE . SCORE. MELBOURNE, June 2. The New Zealand jockey K. Voitre continues to ride impressively, and at the Victoria Racing Club's birthday meeting at Flemington yesterday he excelled himself by gaining three firsts and one dead-heat for first. Only one other jockey has ever had four successes in one day at Flemington, and that was another New Zealander, M. McCarten. Voitre's feat is the more outstanding because there were only four flat races on the programme. He started off by winning the Rothsay Handicap of £500, seven furlongs, on Valiant Chief, and won the Royal Handicap of £650, six furlongs, on Vauntry. In the Sandringham Handicap of £500, one mile and a quarter, he dead-heated for first on Alaric. His amazing success continued in the last race, the Buckingham Handicap of £500, one mile, for three-year-olds, when .he again rode the winner, Turf Boy. Voitre received an ovation when he returned to scale. He seems certain to win the jockeys' premiership in Melbourne this season. Epigram and First Money were unplaced in the Royal Handicap, and Ruling Light was unplaced in the Sandringham Handicap. Results of jumping events: — YORK HURDLE RACE of £400. Two miles.
