LEAGUE FOOTBALL.
JUNIOR MANAGEMENT SEVERAL GROUND APPLICATIONS. Opening the meeting of the Auckland Rugby League junior management committee last evening, Mr. D. Wilkie referred to the death of Air. James Carlaw, members standing as a mark of respect. The nomination of third, fourth and sixth grade teams from the Green Lane Rugby League Club was accepted. The Auckland Whippet Racing Club applied for the use of Fowlds Park reserve, rented to the Auckland League, in order to hold whippet racing events one Saturday each month from July for twelve months. The matter was referred to the senior board.
It was decided to postpone consideration of the regular use of the Northcote High School ground, and the Papakura Club's application in respect of Prince Edward Park was recommended.
With the approval of the senior B clubs, it was decided that the competition be played in three rounds, with a full round knock-out. This will also apply to the seventh grade.
The committee endorsed the Papakura Club's claim for transfer fee, in respect of Hoy Johnstone, acquired late last season by Newton Hangers seniors.
Transfers granted: C. E. Allen, R.V. to Ellerslie fifths; W. A. Postlewaight, Marist fifths to Newton fifths; M. Thompson, Richmond sixths to City sixths.
