POSTAL REVENUE UP.
YEAR'S INCREASE £143,000.
IMPROVEMENT MAINTAINED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Friday. An improvement of £143,000 in the revenue of the Post and Telegraph Department is disclosed by the returns for the year ended March 31. The ievenue for the year, compared with that of the previous year, was as follows:—1034-35, £3,343,000; 1033-34, £3.200,000. The iigures show a substantial improvement in post oflice business, and this has been maintained since the end of the financial year. During April the postal reeeipte were £8000 in excess of those for December, tho beet poetal month of the year. In April also there was an increase in telephone and telegraph business. Ordinary telegrams increased in number by 29,158, urgent telegrams by 1311, and telephone toll calls by 131,424. Improved conditions were also reflected, in the Post Office Savings Bank transactions in April. There wae a surplus of deposits over withdrawals for that month amounting to £102,708.
