(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CARTERTOX, Thursday. A severe rain storm visited the South Wairarapa last night, 2.01 inches falling in the 24 hours ended at !) o'clock this morning. The rivers are all in high flood and to-day water was running across the road between Carterton and Greytown impeding traffic, but not stopping it. The hill roads in the county suffered from innumerable small slips, and bridges and approaches were damaged. Dairy farm? in Ahiaruhe, Waihakeke, Ahikouka and Dalefield districts were Hooded and great difficulties were experienced by fanners in milking their herds and getting to the factories. Slipe have occurred on the Rinnttaka Hill, but traffic has not been blocked so far. The Hinakura Road was blocked to-day by a heavy slip on the eastern eide. Reports from the Martinborough district state that floods are highest since 1!)24, and damage line been done to bridges and roads. So far no stock losses have been reported, though in several instances sheep and cattle have been surrounded and isolated. The Dalefield cheese factory wae to-day Hooded to a depth of a few inches, and the waters in that district were the highest einco 1918. The Matarawa Bridge, an old wooden structure, was reported to he seriously threatened. The rain this morning was much lighter. Later reports from the Ahiaruhe soldier settlement stated that the whole district was inundated, the water entering many houses. Stock losses were reported, but their was no estimate as to numbers.
