The position of the 1035 Rugby Union championship is already interesting, as last year's winners (Grafton) have already been beaten twice, while the runner-up has been victorious in only one of the three matches played. University one of the bracketed trio of champions in 1933, also lost a couple of matches, while the other two sides, Ponsonby and Marist, have also suffered one defeat.
