AFFAIRS OF REFEREES. ATTENTION TO AMENDED RULES. At the meeting of the Auckland Rugby League Beferees' Association last evening, Mr. L. E. Bull presiding, official advice was received from the Control Board explaining that referees had the right to inspect players' boots with a view to seeing that sprigs, whether bakalite or aluminium were not dangerous. The junior management delegate reported that team coaches were to be asked to advise when teams were unable to fulfil engagements in order that referees would not be inconvenienced. It was decided that the Walmsley Shield, presented for life membership, should bo suitably inscribed. The executive reported that the Appointment Board was still dissatisfied with the enforcement of the new rubs, particularly that relating to 10yds offside and play-the-ball. The official critic, Mr. T. Ilill, delivered an informative lecturctte 011 the subject, in which he again urged the need for referees being as fit as players. He was heartily thanked for his advice on the subject. The action of the referee at Waiuku in refusing to allow the game to continue until a badly injured player left the field was approved.

The Primary Schools' Association advised that it had arranged for special matches during the school holidays, on Wednesday next, and invited co-opera-tion. This was agreed to. The fixtures arc at Carlaw Park (two), Domain and Avondale. .
