MAKING PACTS.
BUSY STATESMEN.
French Ministers at Moscow
And Rome.
SATISFACTORY PROGRESS. (United P.A.—Electric Telegraph—Copyright) (Received 12.30 p.m.) MOSCOW, May 13. M. Laval, French Foreign Minister, and M. Litvinoff conferred for 90 minutes. M. Laval explained the results of his visit to Warsaw, after which the Ministers discussed the ratification of the Franco-Soviet pact, and examined the possibility of an eastern regional non-aggression pact. Both are well satisfied with the progress.
M. Laval will go to Warsaw attend Marshal Pilsudski's funeral
A Rome message says Signor Mussolini and General Deiiain, French Air Minister, signed the Franco-Italian air Convention. Although it is believed that it relates to security, so far the details revealed only indicate the inauguration of a commercial air line linking Paris and Rome in three to five hours, and connecting with the London service from Paris.
WELCOMED BACK. MR. EDEN IN COMMONS. (Received 1.30 p.m.) RUGBY, May 13. The Lord Privy Seal, Mr. Anthony Eden, who has completely recovered from his recent illness which followed upon a severe buffeting in the flight home from Prague a while ago, has returned to his duties at the Foreign Office. He will lead the British delegation to next week's League of Nations Council meeting at Geneva.
He was accorded a warm welcome in entering the House of Commons, where he answered several questions addressed to the Foreign Secretary.
One of these questions invited a statement on the position of the dispute between Italy and Abyssinia. Mr. Eden, in his reply, recalled that the matter was on the agenda of the Li-ague Council meeting, which was called for May 20.
Meanwhile, the whole situation was receiving the Government's most careful attention.
