TOBACCONISTS MEET.
ASSOCIATION'S ACTIVITIES. The\ annual meeting of the Auckland District Retail Tobacconists and Hairdresseni' Association (Inc.) was held in the Chamber of Commerce. It was the largest meeting of tobacconists ever held in Audklniid, the chamber being filled. Representatives of many country districts were present. ! -The president, Mr.. C. Walker, in traveisijig the operations of the association dui ing the past year, said it had ' been the) most interesting in the history of the trhde, for on November 1 last, after many years of struggle toward that end, price fixation at last became a reality. Following the adoption of the report and bafcince-sheet, an election oE officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows: — President, Mr. C. Walker; vice-presidents, Messrs. W. Jordan (Hamilton) and R. Hoppy; executive committee. Messrs. I. Colenian, D. Findlay. R. Wilkinson and H G Sutcliffe, also Mr. L. Norris (Tau-t-anna) and Mr. W. R. Edwards (Cambridge), ex officio members; lion, treasurer, Mr- M. Lewis. Mr R. M. Carter, who is leaving the trade, wffts elected a life member of the association in recognition of past services on behalf, >of the tobacconists of New Zealand. Several' members, both from country and city, spoke, and all reported much improved conditions, and all emphasised j the necessity for continued organisation and unity, and the benefits to be derived from such.
