JUBILEE DINNER.
OVERSEAS LEAGUE FUNCTION,
Old gold chrysanthemums, trails of lycopodium, aiul coloured lights formed effective decorations at the dinner held l>y the Auckland branch of the Overseas League at Hotel Cargen last evening in honour of the King's Jubilee. The league's flag, an O.S. centred 011 a Union Jack, covered the wall above the jflicial table and was flanked by framed portraits of Their Majesties. The guests at the official table included Mra. John Alexander, wife of the president of the branch, who was gowned in nattier blue lace with satin coatee; Mrs. G. W. Hutchison, Mayors, wearing moonlight blue satin with furtrimmed capelet; Lady Richardson, midnight blue velvet; Mrs. J. T. F. Mitchell (vice president), black channelise with white on corsage; Mrs. Frank Fox, jun., ivory floral taffeta; Miss A. R. Quayle, grey satin; Miss N. Montgomery (vice-president) black georgette. Miss Ida Walker, who was in black lace, sang "Land of Hope and Glory," the audience joining in the chorus, and later in the evening John Greenlenf Whittier's "Hymn of Peace."
