JUBILEE GOLF.

MENZIES LOSES AGAIN. DEFEATED BY CLUB MATE. Another golf title slipped from the grasp of B. H. Menzies yesterday afternoon when in the final of the Titirangi Jubilee championship lie was defeated by L. McLean. Since lie won the provincial championship at Middlemore four seasons ago Menzies has taken a leading part in many major competitions, but has invariably been beaten in rhe concluding stages. It was thought that his turn had come yesterday, for .he is rated five strokes better than his club mate opponent. Howeven. McLean, playing his seconds more consistently than usual, had the advantage practically throughout the game, though he was taken to the twentieth hole to clinch liis victory.

Frequent mistakes were made by Menzies in the early part of the game and McLean obtained a lead of 2 up at the third hole, lost the next by taking three putts, and regained his lead at the fifth with a birdie 4, the result of a well-judged approach. A live gave Menzies a win at the next and there was no change at the turn. Dulling his drive at the twelfth McLean was at a disadvantage, but his opponent played badly and became 3 down, when he took 7 for the hole to McLean's G. Menzies rallied, and with 5, 2, 4, 4, squared the game at the sixteenth, the fifteenth being halved. McLean deserved his win at the seventeenth, for lie played a fine second just over the back of the green, but he had to hole a ten-foot putt after a weak chip. Menzies squared the game again at the eighteenth, where he outplayed his opponent, but the end came at the twentieth, where an indifferent second by Menzies was trapped on the road.

The handicap final resulted In an overwhelming win for'H. S. Brown, who was in receipt o£ six strokes from It. M. George. The results are:—Championship: L. McLean (Auckland) beat B. H. Menzies "(Auckland) at the twentieth. Handicap Cup: IT. R. Brown (Akarana) beat R. M. George (Maungakiekie), 8 and G. The bogey handicap in the morning was won by R. B.
