LEAGUE FOOTBALL.

BOARD OF CONTROL AFFAIRS.

EXTRA JUBILEE HOLIDAY

GAMES

AUCKLAND SELECTORS

REAPPOINTED.

At the meeting of the Auckland Rugby League Board of Control last evening, Mr. G. Grey Campbell presiding, it was decided to feature the Ponsonby-Marists match on Saturday, with the curtain-raiser between Devonport and City Rovers. Bonsonby will be making a first appearance. Richmond Rovers and Mount Albert L nitcd will play as the star attraction for Monday, when the Huntly team will contest the early game with Newton Hangers.

As the result of a ballot Messrs. E. K. Asher, 11. Avery and Mincham were reelected Auckland selectors for the season. Others nominated were A. Ferguson and W. Liversidge. Following the consideration of reports, it was decided to advise senior clubs that the new play-thc-ball and hooking rules would be more rigidly enforced from next .Sal in day. Jn the meantime players would have opportunity to brush up on points involved by attending referee demonstrations on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. The insurance committee reported that the Mount Albeit player. Herring, who was thought to be seriously injured on .Saturday, was suffering from a dislocated shoulder.

Marist Old Boys notified the uplifting of the suspension of W. Hassan, whose reinstatement and transfer to Mount Albert United were facilitated. H. J. Collins was reinstated, subject to clearance being in order from Newton to Mnnuknu.

Transfers granted: J. J. Magee and J. .Miller, Glenora to City Hovers; H. Limn, Pousonby to Newton; P. Young, Richmond to Newton; ,f. Holehou.se, Point Ohevalier to Newton: Lyle Rogers', Glenora to I'onsonby; T. Milicich, Richmond to Devonport; ('. Thomas, Pousonby to Point Chevalier (subject to regrade): I. Walder, Marists to Mount Albert; H. Xcale, Ponsonby to Papakura, with conditional regrade. Senior Registrations.—G. W. Surtees (Parnell), Roy Nightingale (Mount Albeit). Lou Brown (Kohiiiiarama), D. Hira (Orakei), t'atuwa Nathan (City), and Tai Nathan (ex-Wairoa Rugby Union rep.), to City Rovers; A. Matthews (.Mount Albert) and 1). Stewart (KingHland), to Mount Albert United: E. Smith (Grey Lynn) and A. Dufty (City), Newton Rangers: J. (.'. Cowan (ex senior B Rugby Union), to Devonport United.

According to a communication received by the Auckland Rugby League from Sydney, no trouble will be experienced by other football codes, which desire the use of Sydney Cricket Ground, now under long lease to the New South Wales Rugby League for its principal seasonal attractions.

It was pointed out by Mr. H. R. Miller, the Rugby League secretary, that the agreement with the cricket ground authorities did not entitle the area being used for proposed Maori matches, but only for New Zealand and inter-State union matches. The Maoris, it was considered, could not, by any stretch of imagination, bo called a representative team of the Dominion. However. Mr. Miller said that, as the League's representative at the conference with the other codes, he would recommend to his committee that nothing should be done to embarrass the arrangements of either union or Australian codes, in the hope that a similar attitude would be adopted by the New Zealand Rugby Union during the visit to New Zealand of the Australian Rugby League team later this season.
