DEATH AT 83.
W. E. GLADSTONE'S THIRD SON.
(Received 1.30 p.m.) LONDON, April 28. The death is announced of Henry Neville Gladstone, first Baron Gladstone of Hawarden, the third son of William Ewart Gladstone. England's famous Liberal Prime Minister of Victorian days. Lord Gladstone, who was 83 rears of age, was a director of the P. and O. Line, and was associated prominently with the British Legion, the National Library of Wales and the North Wales University College. He was Lord Lieutenant of his county of Flintshire in 1915. He acted for some years as private secretary to his famous father.

SIR A. C. MACKENZIE DEAD
(Received l.? 0 p.m.) LONDON, April 28. The death is recorded of Sir Alexander Campbell Mackenzie, famous Scottish composer and conductor, in his 88tli vear. Born in Edinburgh, son of a famous musical father, he studied much abroad and held the post of principal of the Roval Academy of Music from 1888 to 1924, during which period it progressed enormously. He was one of Britain's best-known conductors and composers, receiving a in 1895, and a host of other distinctions and honorary degrees, both at home and l abroad.
