AGAIN AMISS.

CRICKET BAT TO SPELL

CYCLONIC CHANGES HANDS.

ACQUIRED BY A. McATJLAY, (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") CHRISTCHURCH, this day. Royal Limond has been sent to Southland," and his trainer, D. O'Connor, will follow later in the week to pilot his charge in the steeplechase at the Otautau meeting on Saturday. The gelding's future programme will depend on how he shapes in that race. If he makes a good showing he will remain in the south for the Riverton meeting, in which ease O'Connor will ride him on Easter Saturday, after which he will return home to handle Coll in jumping engagements at Riccarton. Cricket Bat has again shown signs of soreness, and has been eased up. He will be blistered and sent to his owner's stud at Stonyhurst, where he will have another spell, after which he will be tried again. Having had a lot of hard galloping during ills career, It is doubtful if he will stand up to another severe preparation such as seems necessary to get him in his best form. While F. D. Jones was away on a recent holiday he discussed the future of Nightly with 'his owner, Mr. J. A. MeDougall. There was some talk of operating on the Night Raid horse for wind trouble, but this idea was dropped. Nightly will do no more racing, but will be retired to the stud. His owner has made no arrangements yet, but if a good home is found he will* be given away for two or three vears.

A. McAulay has liad an addition to his team, having acquired from J. 11. Jeffewl

the four-year-old Cyclonic, by Hunting Song l —Gymene. XlcAulay intends to put him into work in a few days, provided he throws off the soreness which is troubling him at present.

TE AWAMUTU TRACKS

KURAPAE PLEASES. 'GALILEE AND CALLISTO. For fast work at Te Awamutu yesterday morning the course proper,' with the flags about 10ft out, was available, and the going was good. Early a dense fog obscured the tracks, and made timing very difficult. The best gallop of the morning was a half-mile by Callisto and Galilee.

Course Proper. Knight of Australia was the first to work, and was allotted seven furlongs, which took him 1.32 2-5. He had the assistance of the General Latour colt over the last three furlongs, and they were practically on terms at the finish. Xamakia could have improved upon her 55%e for half a mile. This mare looks well. Flit Acre was sent five furlongs, but was timed only over the first three, which ho traversed in 40s. He was eased after this, and came home at about threequarter pace. Four furlongs in 51 l-5s saw Snow Lap finishing alongside Trislma. who appeared to be doing the better of the pair. A pleasing task was done by Kurapae, who was sent away from the sevenfurlong barrier to run half a mile along the back in 50%5. This fellow is still a hard horse to manage on the track. Arawa Rose was not after time while working along over seven furlongs in 1.37. This little marc is to make her next appearance at the Avondule meeting, and all being well should improve on her

sequence of minor plaeings. The best half-mile of the morning was credited to Galilee, who ivas several lengths behind Callisto at the jump off, and could not make up much ground. However, she registered 50s. This was easily C'allisto's best effort for some time, as she appeared to be moving very freely. Galileo was ridden by R. W. McTavish. Sweet Rose was worked along at three-quarter pace until reaching the two-furlong peg. from where she came home in 24 3-ss. Musquil was not being extended to take 1.18 for six furlongs.

IMPORTED STALLION

The stallion Foxbridge, purchased by Mr. L. 0. Otway, of Pukekura (Cambridge), will arrive at Wellington tomorrow. A good-looking horse, standing 16 hands, he is by the Ascot Gold Cup winner Foxlaw, from Bridgeinount, dam of the One Thousand Guineas winner Cresta Run. He is by Bridge of Earn from Mountain Mint, by Spearmint from Adula, a sister to Pretty Polly. Foxbridge was purchased by Mr. J. V. Rank at the December sale in England in 1034 for £2500. He won the Atlantic Cup of £2501) at Liverpool, and finished third in the Eclipse Stakes to Loamingdale and Firdaussi. He has several other good performances to his credit, and it is hoped Mr. Otway will have a worthy successor to Gay Shield.
