WENDY CHATS
Dear Girls, " I really am a little late with this letter, for two weeks have passed by row since Gloria left for the capital city. I hope you liked the nice little picture our Mr. Photographer took of her and which we published in our Wednesday issue of a fortnight ago. It is just like her, you know, girls—she is so grave, with serious eyes and nice curly hair. Perhaps that is why when she does smile her smile seems all the sweeter. 1 am going to miss Gloria, for strangely enough she shared Shortland Street with the Budget family, and it was often a temptation to slip up the hill and visit this friendly little girl whose verses are making her loved throughout the length and breadth of New Zealand. From the window of her little sitting room, where nearly all her days were spent, she had a wonderful view of the harbour and North Shore, and sometimes she would tell me the histories of certain landmarks and the Jj t stories surrounding the old buildings of Auckland, « some of which could be seen from her window. g | Love from
