BIRTHDAY VISIT.
The ladies' committee of the Auckland Rugby League has started promptly this season 011 its charity work. On Tuesday evening a number of members attended the Evelyn Firth Home in St. Stephen's Avenue, to honour the well-known invalid supporter of the game, Mr. Harold Walmsley, whose artistry and skill in the making of trophies for sport alid of Christmas gifts for kindergarten children and for hospital patients, are so widely known. Mr. Walmsley was taken by surprise, and was delighted to receive a birthday cake, the appropriate number of candle lights 011 which, lie extinguished in accordance with custom. In thanking the ladies for their thoughtful gesture, Mr. Walmsley, who lias been receiving special sun treatment, expressed confidence in the improvement of his health. j With the King's Silver Jubilee ball to be held in May, demanding immediate attention, this energetic ladies' committee, which so successfully organised the Auckland League's second annual ball Inst year during the visit of Western Suburbs, of Sydney, has a busy time ahead.
