LEAGUE FOOTBALL.
JUNIOR CONTROL BOARD. HE-ELECTION OF MANAGEMENT. Every club in the Auckland district junior grades was represented at the annual meeting of the .Junior Control Board last evening, when Mr. D. Wiikie presided. The report showed an increase in the number of teams, -with well oyer a thousand grade players registered. Otahuhu (second grade), Richmond (third), Marists (third intermediate), 2\ T ewtc»i (fourth), City (fifth), Ellerslie (sixth) and liiclimond (seventh) were congratulated on championship successes, and Papakura, Ponsonby, Marist, Glenora, City, Ellerslie and -Richmond A on knockout wins. The Davis Points Shield went to .Richmond, with Papakura as runners-up. The standard of junior play was a credit to the code. Special mention was made of the co-operation of the senior body, Referees' Association and of the advice and help given by Mr. T. Davis, the past secretary. The chairman referred in praiseworthy terms to the work of Mr. W. F. Clarke in his first year of office as secretary. Mr. Wiikie added that the Auckland League had definitely decided to start a senior B grade competition to meet the needs of district extension, and details were to bo finalised at a meeting of senior club delegates with the Board of Control, when the matter of senior matches in outer districts and the taking of junior players by senior clubs at short notice would be matters considered. Nominations for the nine vacancies on the J.M.C. closed, and as only nine names were submitted by the clubs, the committee will be as follows: —Messrs. D. Wiikie, A. Hopkinson, T. Chertnside, I. Stonex, G. Taylor, E. Chapman, C. G. Howe, T. Carey and G. Short. Ponsonby Club reported having appointed D. Lane as its representative. Mr. Wiikie was re-elected chairman. The committee subsequently met, and, among other matters, decided to grant no regrades after the first round except under extenuating circumstances. It was decided that nominations for all grade teams close on April 23, and opening day. be Saturday, May 4. GLENORA CLUB. The annual meeting, of the Glenora Rugby League Club, held at the JI.S.A. rooms. Glen Eden, was largely attended, Mr. W. McNeil presiding. Messrs. A. Hopkinson, Geo. Taylor and I. Stonex represented the junior management. The report recorded a considerable increase of support for the club in the dis-1 triet last season, and expressed confidence | for the future. The chairman, a Ponsonby and Auckland representative player, gave a review on the growth of the game. Officers elected were: —Patron, Mr. A. J. Routley; vice-patrons, Messrs. Frank Newton, sen., Chas. Robertson; president, Mr. George Bond; chairman, Mr. J Elshaw; treasurer, Mr. S. Pearson; secretary, Mr. M. E. McNamara.
