Mr. V. R. Meredith .left for "Wellington by the Limited last night. Mr. E. H. Northcroft returned from Wellington by. the- Limited this morning. Mr. A. M. Seaman returned this morning from a brief visit to Wellington. Mr. H. M. Rogerson and Mr. W. S. Spence left for Wellington by the Limited last night. Dr. W. S. Seed has been elected president of 'the Canterbury Rugby Union in succession to Mr. A. E. McPhail. Mr. E. C. PTands, general manager of the New Zealand Broadcasting Board, returned to Wellington by the Limited last night. Mr. W. J. Holdsworth, chairman of the Auckland Electric Power Board, returned from the South by the Limited this morning. Mr. R. W. Westoby, of the Bank of New Zealand, Sydney, and Mrs. Westoby, left for Sydney by the Monterey yesterday. Mr. G. P. Finlay, who has been appearing before the Transport Coordination Board in Wellington, returned by the Limited this morning. Mr. H. E. West, cereal chemist at the Wheat Research Institute, is to leave New Zealand early in June on a three months' visit to Canada and U.S.A. Mr. G. H. Htitton, consulting engineer to the Anglo-Oriental Mining Corporation, who arrived at Auckland by the Monterey yesterday, left for the South by the Limited last night. The Very Rev. D. IT. Hurley, provincial of the Marist Fathers in Australia and New Zealand, left by the Limited last night to attend the ordination of candidates from St. Mary's Seminary, fireennieadows, near Napier. Mr. James Lobb, of Lawrence, Otago, who has been spending a few days in Auckland, leaves on Wednesday for Wellington, whence he will sail by the Makura for Sydney to join the P. and 0. liner Bendigo on his ninth tour around the world. Sir Hugh Denison and Lady Denison, of Sydney, who have been touring Now Zealand, are expected to arrive in Auckland on Wednesday night. They will be entertained by the Royal Empire Society at a luncheon on Thursday, Sir Hugh Denison having been for many years president of the society in Sydney.
