LEAGUE OF MOTHERS.

BAYSWATER-BELMONT. The initial meeting of the BelinontBayswater League of .Mothers was held in the Presbyterian hall, Belniont, on Thursday, Mrs.- Verran presiding. Mrs. 0.- Hawkcßwprth was elected secretary in place of Mrs. Bishop, who retired owing to ill health. Competitions were won by Mrs. Call ill, Mrs. Brewer and Mrs. Clark. Mre. Gerrand gave a few items on the piano, and songs which were much enjoyed wore rendered by Mrs. Ogilvy, Mrs. West and Mrs. Strong. Afternoon tea was served by the committee. NEWTON EAST. The first meeting of the Xewton East Branch of the League of Mothers was held on Wednesday, Mrs. Ohms presiding. There was a fair attendance. The following tea committee was formed: Mrs. Monieli,. oonvener; Mesdames Howard, Teasdale and Durham. The executive resulted: Mrs. Ohms, convener; Mesdaiiß's Monish, Iggleden, AYiles, Porter, with power to add. The speaker was Miss Baker, of the Christian Alliance of Women and Girls, who gave a helpful address on "Journeyings," and also gave an outline of the growth and work of the C.A.W.O. A duet was rendered by Mrs. and Miss Taylor and a recitation by Mrs. Ohms. . MOUNT ALBERT. The opening meeting of the year was held on Thursday in the Presbyterian Hall. Mrs. Mcßride, owing to Mrs. M. Turner's absence, was in the chair and presided over a good number of members and friends. Rev. Evans was the speaker and his subject was "The Child and the Importance of Its Development." Mrs. G. N. Kean contributed the thought for the month. Songs were rendered by Mrs. Harveny and Mrs. Richards, and recitations by Miss V. Turner. A competition was also enjoyed. Afternoon' tea was served under Mrs. Leman. a
