OBITUARY.

■ v MR. J. R. CORRIGAN. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) HAWERA, Tuesday. The death has occurred of Mr. J. R. Corrigan, aged 69. Mr. Corrigan arrived in Hawera 42 years ago from Tinwald, Canterbury, and soon became established .as a breeder of stud sheep. Later he liad extensive dairying interests. He was also prominent in trotting circles, and for many -years was one of the leading owners. For 28 years lie was a director of the Hawera Dairy Company, of which he was chairman for 17 years. He was chairman of the Eltham Box Company for some years and chairman of the South Taranaki Winter Show Company, as well as chairman of the New Zealand Rennet Company, chairman of the West Coast Refrigerating Company,-and a 'director of the South Taranaki Shipping Company.' He was the member of Parliament for the Pa tea electorate _in 1922-25, was a member of the Dairy Produce Board from 192-0 to 1932.

DR. DAVID BLACKLEY.

A well-known medical practitioner of New Plymouth, Dr. David Blackley, died on March 19, aged 53. Born in Dumfries, Scotland, he took his""M.B. and Ch.B. degrees at Glasgow University in 1904, and upon arrival in New Zealand the following year joined Dr. F. A. Walker as assistant, entering two years later into a partnership which lasted until 1930. In 1913 Dr. Blackley took his M.D. degree at his old university. He married Miss. Maye Aslidown, of Hendon, England, the same year. Greatly interested in farming, Dr. Blackley had properties at Tatarainiaka, Taranaki, and at Te Awamutu. He was a. successful "breeder of Jersey cattle and Southdown sheep. Deceased is survived by Mrs. Blackley, two sons, and two daughters.
