Infantryman Who Killed Old
Man for Money.
AFTERWARDS PLAYED A GAME
(United P.A.—Electric Telegraph—Copyright) (Received 1.30 p.m.) LONDON, March 8. John Bainbridge, aged 24, an infantryman, has been sentenced to death on a charge of murdering Edward Hedman, aged 75 years.
Bainbridge attended a New Year's Eve party at the home of his fiancee, and played the game of "murder." He drew the ace of spades and acted the part of ' murderer, participating in the fun in an unagitated manner.
The Crown alleged that a few hours before the party Bainbridge murdered Hednian, whose head was battered and throat cut, and robbed him of £36 to buy an engagement ring.
