The swift is supposed to be- the faetest-flying bird, as is evident by its | name. It normally flies at about 70 mile*? per hour, but with a following ; wind it can increase its speed to 100 miles an hour. Members of the. crow; family —magpies, jays, crows, etc. —fly from ."51 to 45 miles an hour; smaller perching birds, to 37 miles an hour; geese, from 24 to 55 miles an hour; starJinpN, 38 to <in miles; ducks, 44 to 50; ! wading birds, 34 to 51: and most other birds at an. average of 40 to 50 milce.— Copied.
