ABDICATION- DESTROYED,. i (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") CHRISTCHURCH, Saturday. The Riccarton. trainer F. D: Jones had the misfortune this week to lose the two-year-old Abdication! The colt was found off colour on -Thursday morning, and veterinary aid .was' summoned. In spite of treatment his condition grew'worse, and he died the same night from intestinal trouble. Abdication, who was. owned by Mr. J. D. McDougall, was by Chief Ruler from Termination. He had_ started in only two races, but had shown great promise in his work, while his third at Riccarton last. month '•' was an attractive performance\in>..view-of bad luck, at .the start. ' ' ' . . '" ,-,,.,' Sir Charles Clifford hae entered Knock Out, Fracas, .Hororata l and Owlsgleam for the Manawatu meeting, and H. Cutts will take them to Awapuni at the close of the Trentham meeting, where the three firstnamed will be raced. Owlsgleam . cannot run on the first day at Trentham, having become ineligible for. the Trial . Plate through her success at Motukarara. She is in a seven-furlong handicap on the second day, but " may be reserved ' for Awapuni, where a . jsix-furlong race each day will suit her better.
