DETECTIVE ALLSOPP.
DUTY IN WHANGAREI.
WELL-KNOWN POLICE OFFICER
One of the best known members of the Auckland detective stall', Detective T. W. Allsopp, this morning received notice o.f his transfer to Whangarei.
Prior to coming to Auckland several v us ago, Detective Allsopp served in l> ncdin. He has investigated many important Auckland crimes, and has shown marked ability as a detective officer. His uioet famous case was the investigation of the Ruawaro murders, together with Detectives T. Sneddon and Finlay and other officers.
In December tlio Commissioner of Police, Mr. VV. <!. Woliiniann, in awarding tin , order of merit to both Detectives Allsopp and Sneddon, stated that the Police Department wished specially to recognise the work done by these two officers.
In his letter to .Superintendent S. Till the commissioner said: "In view of the cllicicnt manner in which Detectives Sneddon and Allsopp discharged tlici;diflicult duties in connection with the investigation of the liuawaro case, for which they were commended by the trial Judge, which commendation meets with the hearty endorsement of the Department, it has been deckled, in recognition of their services, to grant each a record of merit for exceptional detective ability and zeal displayed in the investigation anil In the accumulation and preparation of evidence."
