CLAIMED £50,000.
JUDGMENT FOR £250. LONDON, February 28. In an action for £50,000, for services rendered in connection with a share deal, Mr. Reginald Purbrick, M.P., formerly of Melbourne, was awarded £250 with costs. John Parker, the defendant, it was stated, secured a contract to buy brewery shares for £1,300,000, and he wanted £70,000 to pay 5 per cent of the deposit. He asked Purbrick to provide a bank draft of £70,000, for which, Purbrick said, Parker i>lolll ised him £50,000 as commission. Parker finally went elsewhere for the money. Purbrick, however, had to allow his £70,000 to remain segregated in the bank. For this reason, Mr. Justice Branson, in his judgment, allowed Purbrick damages to the extent of £250.
