BRISBANE STRIKE.
Serious Injury to Chilled Beef Export Trade. DISPUTE COSTS STATE £78,000. (Received 10 a.m.) BRISBANE, this day. The abattoir strike, which has now lasted three weeks, has already cost the State about £75,000. The strike is also having a serious effect on the chilled meat industry. Five ships have been turned away without freights. ' The stoppage of supplies of chilled beef in the early stages of the development of this trade is expected to do inestimable damage in the United Kingdom, where guaranteed continuity .of supplies is essential.
