THE PUKEKOHE MEETING. A sum of £3276 is to be paid to the Government as taxation on the combined meeting of the Franklin and Bay of Islands Racing Clubs at Pukckohc on Saturday and Monday. The amount is made up as follows: —Totalisator tax, £1587; dividend tax, £1542; stakes tax, £05; amusement, tax, £52. APPRENTICE REINSTATED. The apprentice jockey L. Clifford, who at Thames on January 12 was suspended for two months, was last night reinstated "by the Auckland District Racing Committee. He will thus be able to ride at Te Rapanext Saturday. ON PARADE CASE. The appeals of G. Holland, trainer, and J." F. Fergus, jockey, _in connection with their disqualification ' by the Franklin Racing Club, will be heard by the Auckland District Committee next Wednesday. AUSTRALIAN TURF. RINGING-IN CASE. At the Sydney quarter sessions to-day a jury found James Henry O'Connor guilty of false pretences in connection with the 'Tinging-in" at the Grafton race meeting of the horse Borapine under tho name of Comedy Jim. The jury added a rider saying it considered that tlie racing authorities clid not exercise sufficient care in the acceptance and verification of horses lor registration.
