NEED FOR THE WORK. That a need exists for the work of the Auckland. Home Economic Association was shown In the report presented at the annual meeting of the association held in the Seddon Memorial Technical College last evening. The secretary, Miss M. Aitchison, read the report which further stated that a large number of requests had been received from outlying districts of Auckland for a repetition of some of the lectures which had been given during the year. "It is the aim and wish of the association to develop, so that theae calls can be answered. However, until the membership increases and funds will permit, the work, which is obviouely filling a need in the community, must be confined to the town," the report continued. The association was inaugurated in August, 1933, with a membership of 33, which had increased to 173 members. The attendance at the monthly meetings ranged from 40 to 100. There had been 11 lectures and demonstrations given during the year. The financial statement showed a balance of £10 in the bank, which was considered satisfactory. A tribute to the women members of the Technical College staff, as well as teachers from other secondary schools who had assisted in a practical manner, was paid by the president, Miss B, Carnachan. A vote of thanks' to the principal, Mr. G. J. Park, and the staff of the Technical College, the home science graduates", and others who had also contributed, was passed-
