MT. ALBERT ELECTION.
DEPUTATION TO COUNCIL.
Led by Mr. Henry Luke, a deputation of ratepayers waited on the Mount Albeit Borough Council last evening to ask the Mayor, Mr. R. Ferner, and the members of the council to stand for re-election in o. body. Mr. Luke said that no former council had given more general satisfaction to all sections of the borough, and most of the ratepayers hoped to see them returned without the expense of an election. It was generally understood, said Mr. Luke, that the Mayor did not wish to stand for re-election, but he urged him to do so, in the interests, of the borough, the affairs of which he had handled with outstanding ability. Mr. Ferner thanked the deputation for the complimentary opinions expressed, and said that the members of the council deserved praise for the spirit of co-operation which they had displayed. He promised to announce his decision in the near fulure. Later in the meeting, councillors also urged Mr. Ferner t<? aljow iilnieelt to be nominated.
