TAKANINI TRIALS.
The middle grass track, with the poles 20ft out was used for last work at lakanini this morning, and the going was excellent. ' Matorni and Lap Up were associated over a mile, which they traversed easily in 1.47 3-5, the first half taking 52 4-s*. Expectancy pleased by beating Greek Gold by half a length at the end of haii a mile in 51 2-ss, while Spearcourt completed a similar distance In 525. Yesterday morning Whirlette, Gar Vaals and Lady Valma (a filly by Vaals—Biddy Thurnhani) jumped away nicely from the barrier at the three furlong post and hiv ished in the order named, with halt length intervals between them, in 375.
