Alfred Buckland and Sons, Ltd. Beef.—We yarded fat cattle to the number of 2.53 head, against 236 head last week, comprising 62 steers and 191 cows and heifers. There was a keen demand throughout the sale of ox beef, and values remained firm at late quotations. Cows and heifers were yarded in large numbers, but competition was less keen, with the result that prices eased considerably on last week's sale. Extra choice ox sold to 25/ per IQQIb; choice and prime, 22/ to 24/; secondary and plain, 18/ to 20/; prime young cow and heifer beef, 18/ to 20/; secondary, 10/ to 15/. Extra heavy prime steers ranged in price 'from £10 to £10 12/6; heavy, £9 to £9 15/; lighter, £S to £8 15/; light, £7 to £7 15/; 6mall and unfinished, £5 10/ to £6 10/. N. 2. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. Ltd. Boef.—Our yarding of cow, ox, and heifer beef was larger than for 6ome weeks, and there was a ready demand for good quality cattle, which sold at late rates. Plain and poorer quality cows were inclined to be easier. Extra choice ox sold to 25/ per 1001b; choice and prime, 20/ to 24/; secondary and plain, 10/ to 19/; prime young cow and heifer beef, 20/ to 24/; ordinary, 14/ to 19/. Extra heavy prime steers ranged in price from £9 15/ to £10 10/; heavy, £8 15/ to £9 12/6; lighter, £7 15/ to £8 12/0; light, £6 12'0 to £7 12/6; small and unfinished, £4 to £6 10/. Extra heavy prime young cows and heifers, £6 10/ to £7 10/; heavy, £5 12/6 to £6 7/6; lighter, £4 5/ to £5 10/; light. £2 15/ to £4 2/6; others, £1 5/ to £2 10/. Dalgety and Co., Ltd. Beef.—We yarded 208 head of beef, comprising 21 steers and 187 cows and heifers, as against 146 head last week. The quality was first class, and, selling under a ready demand, values were firm.
