NEW GOVERNOR.
FAREWELL DINNER. Merely Leaving One Home For Another. VISCOUNT GALWAY'S OUTLOOK (United P.A.—Electric Telegraph—Copyright) (Received 11.30 a.m.) LONDON, February 26. Jocularly retorting to Sir James Parr's tribute to his impartial chairmanship in the meat discussions, Mr. J. H. Thomas, presiding at a farewell luncheon to Viscount and Viscountess Galway by the British Empire and kindred societies, said: "It takes some drumming into the heads of Dominion representatives that there is such a thing as British agriculture.- My advice to Viscount Galway is to refrain from discussing meat with the wily 2*few Zealand politicians. "Viscount Galway is a great public figure and a soldier. He began his political career simultaneously with myself. Tho nation has benefited by my services, and New Zealand will now benefit by Viscount Gahvay's." Viscount Galway explained that he did not regard the appointment as an adventure, but merely as leaving one home for another. He paid tribute to New Zealand's maintenance of the Imperial traditions. The guests included Lord and Lady Liverpool, Lord and. Lady Allenby, Earl and Countess Jellicoe, and the Marquess of Crewe.
