BETWEEN OUR SELVES

/ysffer-

Endeavour to be good, and better still, and best. Success is naught—endeavour's all.

ST. JOHN AMBULANCE. The St. John Ambulance Association is having an effort to raise money on Wednesday, March 20, at Carlaw Park, and has asked the guides to contribute an item. Its committee was very anxious for xis to repeat the garden scene that the brownies did at the rally, but as its affair wijl be at night it will be too difficult to arrange for the brownies to get home afterwards. Everybody who saw the flower garden loved it, and those who did not see it are very anxious to do so. We are very sorry indeed that it cannot be arranged. The next best thing, however, is the sword dance, and we have promised to get as many sets as possible for this. The committee has promised to put this item on at 8.30, so that the guides who take part will be able to get away by 5.45 and be home in good time. Admission for them will also be free. Will all those who can make up sets for the sword dance, then? Do so as soon as possible, and let your commissioner know how many sets you can arrange. The St. John Ambulance has always been very helpful to the Guide Association and. deserves all the support that we can give it. This is our opportunity to .show how we appreciate their services to us and to the community, so let us make a good effort and roll up in good numbers. We want at least 20 sets, as you will have to extend right across Carlaw Park. Put your hearts into this, guides, and feel that by giving your services on March 20 to the St. John Ambulance you will be doing a really good turn. Lady Bledisloe's Farewell. The women of Auckland are arranging a special afternoon in the Town Hall next Monday, March 4, to say good-bye to her Excellency the Lady Bledisloe. Any committee member who wishes to ?o may obtain a ticket at headquarters for 1/, which will entitle her to afternoon tea. The guides* part in this event is to take the form a guard of honour from the street to the door of the hall downstairs, and we want any guides and guiders who are available on that afternoon to get in touch with their commissioners, so that we shall know how many can come. All you will have to do is to meet behind the Town Hall (in Grey Avenue) at 2.30 p.m. From there you will be marched into your positions. You will also be able to go into the hall and hear and see all that goes on. Navy uniforms will bo worn. Her Excellency is our Dominion president, and has always taken a great interest in guide activities. We, should therefore show her that we appreciate the help and support that she has given us and see that there is a good representation of guides in the guard of honour.
